TEXAS RETREAT CENTER
ABOUT THE TRC PROJECT
The goal of the Texas Retreat Center Project is to find, raise funds for, and purchase a beautiful piece of land where Diamond Way practitioners can meet to deepen their Buddhist meditation practice. The center will host meditation courses, personal retreats, and gatherings of friends in an inspiring, joyful environment.
The Texas Retreat Center will serve as a focal point for Diamond Way activity in the South, drawing groups of practitioners from the whole southern United States as well as Latin America. The retreat center will also be the ideal place to hold national retreats and courses in the winter season, when it is too cold for camping at the other retreat centers. These national retreats will attract Buddhists from countries around the world, including Eastern and Western Europe, Australia, and Central and South America.
Through these activities, the Texas Retreat Center will preserve the authentic teachings and practices of the Karma Kagyu lineage of Tibetan Buddhism. The center will be a part of an international non-profit network of over 670 lay meditation centers within the lineage founded by Lama Ole Nydahl according to the wish of H.H. 16th Karmapa Rangjung Rigpe Dorje. They are today under the spiritual authority of H.H. 17th Karmapa Trinley Thaye Dorje.
Once purchased, the Texas Retreat Center will be owned by the Buddhist Foundation Diamond Way. For more information about the center, see the statement of purpose and activity. Please, click here to see the activity in the Texas region.
